Delete Your Account & Data

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have the right to request the erasure of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"). This page explains how to delete your VettedBuilder account and all associated personal data.

1. How to delete your account

You can request account deletion in any of the following ways:

Option A — In-App

  1. Log in to your VettedBuilder account
  2. Go to Settings > Account
  3. Tap "Delete Account"
  4. Confirm your decision

Option B — By Email Send an email to privacy@vettedbuilder.com with:

  • Subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  • The email address associated with your account
  • Your full name

Option C — By Post Write to: Data Protection Officer, VettedBuilder Ltd, 69 Stokoe Avenue, Altrincham, WA14 4LF

2. What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Your profile information (name, email, phone, photo)
  • Your job requests and quotes
  • Your reviews and ratings
  • Your message history
  • Your location and service area data
  • Your notification preferences
  • Push notification tokens
  • Social login connections (Google, Facebook, Apple)

3. What we may retain

Under UK law, we may need to retain some data even after account deletion:

  • Payment and transaction records — retained for 7 years (HMRC requirements)
  • Records needed for ongoing legal claims or disputes
  • Anonymised, aggregated analytics data (which cannot identify you)
  • Data required to comply with regulatory obligations

Any retained data is kept securely and used only for the specific legal purpose.

4. Processing time

We will process your deletion request within 30 calendar days of receiving it, as required by UK GDPR Article 17.

You will receive an email confirmation once your account and data have been deleted.

If the request is complex, we may extend the processing time by up to 60 additional days. We will notify you within the first 30 days if this extension is needed.

5. Third-party data

When we delete your account, we also request deletion from our third-party processors:

  • Firebase / Google Cloud — account and stored data
  • Stripe — payment methods (transaction history retained per Stripe's legal obligations)
  • SendGrid — email delivery records
  • Didit — identity verification data

Each processor has their own data retention policies and legal obligations.

6. Facebook data deletion

If you logged in with Facebook, deleting your VettedBuilder account also removes the connection between your Facebook account and VettedBuilder.

To additionally remove VettedBuilder's access from Facebook:

  1. Go to Facebook > Settings > Apps and Websites
  2. Find VettedBuilder
  3. Click "Remove"

You can also submit a data deletion request directly to us using the methods above.

7. Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your deletion request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
